Driving License Category A2
The A2 category of driving license permits the use of motorcycles without sidecars with the maximum engine output of 35 kW. The power/weight ratio of the motorcycle cannot exceed 0.2kW/kg.
The step-by-step process of constructing this driving licence allows you to get your first motorcycle driving license early and gradually progress to higher engine power with the A2 licence.
Scooters and motorcycles
Driving license category A2 is the second level of a motorcycle driver's licence. It permits you to drive small motorcycles (up to 50cc) and mopeds with a maximum cubic capacity of 125cc. This class lets you gradually increase the horsepower of your vehicle and imagine larger engines. The test is a little more difficult than that of the first category, and you will need to attend more theory lessons to prepare for it.
The category A2 driver's licence is valid up to the age of 24. It may be used with a car driving licence category A1 or as a part of a provisional category B driver's licence. If you're over 24 years old, however, you need a full category A driver's licence to operate motorcycles with more than 35 kW.
You can get your group A1 license at the age of 16 (in Denmark, Malta, and Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic and in Germany, Hungary, Iceland and in the following countries: Latvia, Lithuania, Italy and Poland). When you reach the age of 16 you must pass the A2 category motorbike test. You must pass this before the age of 18. After two years, you are able to be upgraded to category A.
After passing the test for category A2, you are allowed to operate a motorcycle, either with or without a sidecar, and vehicles that have up to 35 kW of power. These vehicles must have a power/weight that is not more than 0.02 kW/kg, and Kod 95 prawo Jazdy cannot be directly derived from a vehicle that has twice the power.
If you have completed a two-part moped test or motorcycle test of lower category since 1st July 1996, then you can skip the theory test and only take the practical exam. You can choose to use a small scooter, or moped equipped with L plates, or obtain the new AM licence which permits you to ride bikes with a capacity of up to 50cc and a maximum speed of 45mph. The AM licence is only valid if you have taken your test for theory and completed nine hours of instruction divided into practical and theory lessons at an instructor at a driving school.
Motor vehicles with 4 wheels
This category includes all motorized vehicles that have four wheels, excluding passenger cars and buses. This category also includes utility vehicles such as pickups vans, panels and pickups. Included are campers, motor homes and lorries. This category could also include vehicles such as hearses, ambulances and carryalls which are designed to carry more than eight people or have a maximum permissible mass of more than 500 kg. A1 drivers are able to operate vehicles of this type with a trailer that weighs up to 775kg.
To be able to drive a car of this category, you need to pass the theory test. To do this you must attend 12 lessons lasting 90 minutes of the base content and four additional lessons of 90 minutes each for the add-on (category A2). The test for the theory requires a minimum score of 70%.
After passing the theory test you will then be required to take a practical driving exam on both private and public roads. Once you have passed both of these tests, you will be issued with an application for a driving license. This request should be submitted to the local authority within three years after passing the practical test.
After passing your driving test, it's possible to start driving vehicles that fall under the category A2. In certain countries, after holding a full A1 license for two years, there is no requirement to take an additional test to get an A2 driving license, which allows you to operate motorcycles up 35 kW. This lets you get familiar with smaller two-wheelers before moving to more powerful machines.
If you have a driving licence in category A2, you are able to use a tricycle so long as it has the capacity of 125cc and the maximum power output of 11kW. This category was earlier part of the A licence. Drivers who were issued a full category B licence prior to 19 January 2013 were able to ride mopeds as well and retain this right.
Motor vehicles with five or more wheels
This category comprises vehicles with motors that are specifically designed to be used on the roads for the transportation of goods or passengers. They must have at minimum two or three wheels that are in contact with the ground as well as a saddle or seat for the driver and passengers, and a motor capable of producing speeds of 20 miles per hour or more. These vehicles come with brakes as well as a steering wheel. They also have the ability to be steered in a normal direction, and can also travel in reverse. In some cases the hoods of these vehicles may be opened. Historically, this classification has been applied to trucks (van, mini-van panel, pickup, sport utility) and buses that hold 16 or more passengers. However, a separate set of federal requirements governing uniform licensing standards for commercial vehicle drivers follows a slightly different definition that excludes vehicles with gross weight ratings of more than 26,001 pounds.
In addition to that, the category A2 driving license can be used to drive a moped motor-driven bicycle, or motorcycle. This type of license is only valid if the cylinder's volume and the power of the motor are not greater than 15 and 125 cubic centimeters, respectively. kilowatts, respectively. It can also be used to drive motor tricycles. The minimum age for this class of license is 16 years old. Physically disabled people could also be able to drive motor tricycles that fall in category A1 or A.
Some people decide to get an operator's license. This is valid for vehicles with up to 8 seats and a maximum weight of 3,500kg. Driver's licenses allow them to tow trailers of up to 750kg MAM. They are also able to drive a tractor or construction equipment with a trailer that weighs up to 3,500kg MAM.
The designs of different types of two- and three-wheeled vehicles continue to evolve, it's crucial that NHTSA keep its guidelines to current. Importers, manufacturers and import specialists frequently request interpretations from the agency on the proper classification of vehicles. As a result, NHTSA has developed a set of guidelines to help in the classification of these vehicles. These guidelines include:

To drive a vehicle in this class, you must have completed the theory test for category A1 or have obtained a driving license by direct entry. You may also need to pass a practical driving test depending on the type vehicle you want to drive.
The license you are issued for category A2 is valid for three years from the date you pass your theory test. You must renew it prior the expiry date to keep it in the force.
In addition to the categories mentioned above, you can be granted a driving license for other vehicles with special requirements. For instance, you'll need a special license to drive the large goods vehicle which is classed as category C. This requires knowledge of specific regulations for the transport of dangerous products.
A car driving licence in category kat b will allow you to drive a combination of an automobile and trailer that doesn't fit the conditions of category C. This is where the code 96 is used. The code 96 will be added to your driving licence category B if you've passed both the practical and theory tests, but your trailer or vehicle do not meet the requirements for a Category C licence.
You must hold a driving license in category B for at minimum two years, and you must pass both a theory and practical test. To be certified you must also have attended a special training course and have received additional training. This course is known as a driver training course.
