What is Code 95?
Code 95 indicates on your licence that you have passed the initial test for professional drivers (basiskwalificatie in Dutch). This training has to be adhered to by all professionals who have a C (truck) or D (bus) licence.
It is also mandatory for those who travel abroad for work. This is particularly important for those who have an e-license of category D.
Professional bus and truck drivers
A driving licence code 95 is a document which shows that the driver has the professional qualifications required to work in transportation. This is a requirement for both bus and truck drivers who want to work in the European Union. The document is also used to ensure the safety of cargo and passengers while traveling. The driving license code 95 is valid for a period of five years, and must be renewed each year.
To get a code-95 driver's license, you must complete a 35-lecture theoretical course. After the course is completed they must pass an exam to be awarded a certificate. Periodical training
All drivers who transport goods or passengers professionally in the European Union must have the Code 95 on their driving license. It means that these drivers have had a minimum of 35 hours training over a five-year period in the country where they live or work. This training should include both practical and theoretical instruction.
Truck drivers with the code 95 on their licenses must complete refresher training every five years in order to keep their professional driver's licence valid.
